For nearly 30 years, The Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education has been committed to what God is doing through Christian people in inner-city America and around the world. Under the leadership of Dr. Tony Campolo, EAPE has developed and nurtured elementary and secondary schools, universities, adult and child literacy centers, tutoring programs, orphanages, AIDS hospices, urban youth ministries, summer camps, and long-term Christian service programs in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Africa, Canada and throughout the USA. Our goal is to help build the Kingdom of God by combining evangelism and social justice in the name of Jesus. Listed below are some of the many ministries EAPE supports.

OUR MINISTIRES

Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders has partnered with Haitian church and community leaders to create more than 80 literacy centers for children and adults, bringing hope and dignity to some of Haiti's poorest people. Beyond Borders also provides extraordinarily well-planned short and long-term service-learning opportunities for groups and individuals wanting to travel to Haiti.

Urban Promise

Urban Promise is headquartered in Camden, NJ, and reaches hundreds of children and teenagers through a variety of daily activities that include Bible study, evangelism, tutoring, sports, music and drama. They have also developed the Camden Forward Elementary School and the Home School Academy, an alternative school for high school students on the verge of dropping out. Another Urban Promise program, Camden Printworks, is a fast-growing T-shirt and printing business that trains and employs young entrepreneurs in a city with nearly 70% unemployment. Urban Promise also operates ministries in Wilmington, Delaware and Toronto and Vancouver, Canada.

Mission Year

Mission Year is a national Christian service program that recruits committed young adults to live and work together as full-time missionaries in poor inner-city neighborhoods. Each Mission Year team becomes part of a solid local church, performs regular community service (in schools, hospitals, and other agencies) and does daily outreach visitation in order to build life-changing relationships with neighbors. Mission Year currently has teams in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Oakland, and Chicago.

Of course, EAPE is more than just our programs. In addition to these and other Kingdom works we support, EAPE also facilitates the extensive speaking and writing ministry of our president, Dr. Tony Campolo, who boldly proclaims the Gospel of Jesus wherever he goes.

If you have been blessed by Tony Campolo, and want to join his ministry to the poor and oppressed, here is the place to start. Whether you want to volunteer as a missionary, sponsor a child, or simply join the list of friends who pray for and/or support Tony and the work of EAPE, contact us. Together, we can do great things in the Kingdom of God!
